The new corporate design is NOW

From now on, you will experience FREY&LAU for communication at all levels with a new corporate design. With our new appearance, we show what makes us unique. FREY&LAU: a dynamic and creative developer of high-quality essential oils, flavours and fragrances.

The new look is a further step towards a successful future for our 180-year-old family business. In addition to the new appearance, other investments in new technologies and the expansion of our production facilities, such as the construction of another rectification plant at our Henstedt-Ulzburg production site, are of utmost importance for us. We will be able to distill essential oils even more gently for you and gain valuable components for natural flavours as well as fragrances. Furthermore, we are increasingly investing in our laboratories to develop individual and unique fragrance and taste experiences, true to our motto "Explore your Senses".

Premiere of „Open-doors Henstedt-Ulzburg“ – Students visiting FREY&LAU

The first trainee-tour stopped over at FREY&LAU: in two groups of 10 between the age of 15 to 17, students from Henstedt-Ulzburg were allowed to have a look at our production site and also did some flavour testing.

Human Resources employees Mrs Goral and Mr Martens planned various activities for the students. An interesting presentation about the company‘s history and portfolio, the flavour testing on green-coloured candy (well guessed – it was sweet woodruff) and a visit to our distillery was part of their tour. They visited the impressive destillery plant hygienicly dressed from head to toe. While they could watch how mintoil was produced, the destiller explained the process behind the impressive rectification plant.

Most up-to-date production equipment and continuous monitoring of all production processes through HACCP and IFS guarantee the highest degree of product safety and quality. Our extensive on-site warehouse capacities and streamlined production processes increase our flexibility and guarantee very short delivery times. The development of flavors and taste experiences is a profession unlike any other. Its powered by the imagination and inventiveness of the flavorists, from their precise technical and market knowledge and complex analytical testing procedures. In our application laboratory, the flavors are subject to elaborate application tests to examine their individual operational capability, stability and authenticity. This essential step allows us to accurately determine how the sense and taste release in the final product. With this purpose we incorporate a broad variety of flavors into bakery products, chewing gum, chocolates, hard caramels, jelly products and beverages. The selection, evaluation and quality assessment is then continued as part of our sensory technology and analysis. We provide product innovations, technical concepts or recipe optimizations, supporting our customers until the product makes its way to the sales shelves. Vanilla is one of the most valuable spices in the world. The natural flavor from the pods enhances a wide range of sweet foods, including chocolate and bakery products. It is also added to tea and dairy products. Frey + Lau has a custom-developed extraction plant to process vanilla pods. Using a special manufacturing method, we produce pure bourbon vanilla extracts of the highest quality, which are used for the development of numerous vanilla flavorings. Our portfolio includes vanilla extracts in various concentrations. In addition to conventional extracts, we also offer customers certified organic (BIO), NOP and Fair Trade vanilla extracts.

A broad range for a growing segment: Consumer demand for organically and environmentally certified foods and ingredients is continually growing. As compared to conventional flavors, natural flavors for this market are subject to even stricter requirements. Frey + Lau offers a variety of organic (BIO), NOP and Fair Trade certified flavors. Our carefully produced vanilla extracts, which are extracted from pods, also fall into this category. We are an organically certified producer in accordance with EU Regulation 834/2007, and are also certified under the requirements of the National Organic Program (NOP), which is managed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
