Applications

Essential oils – the liquid, natural talents with healing potential – have a wide range of possible applications. In oral hygiene products and herbal medicines, the natural oils are used for their freshness and healing properties; in the wellness sector, they play a prominent role in well-being; in the cosmetics industry, they replace artificial additives. Moreover, they have always been indispensable as core components of flavors and fragrances. We also find a growing demand for essential oils in the animal feed industry.

Aromatherapy

Everyone has experienced the power of essential oils – even if unwittingly. Invigorating orange, soothing lavender or refreshing mint stir our senses and our minds. These oils are produced by plants to protect against diseases and pests but also to encourage propagation. They are also valuable for us humans and we have used them since the dawn of time. Even the Roman philosopher Ovid and the medieval Benedictine abbess Hildegard of Bingen used essential oils for care and health. In aromatherapy, pure essential oils or combinations of them are used as room fragrances, for inhalation, for massages or even for digestion.

Pharma

Nature as a pharmacy: The healing properties of essential oils have been known for centuries. The natural active ingredients in our essential oils are still utilized today for a variety of pharmaceuticals. Due to their expectorant effects, mint oils, eucalyptus oils and thyme oils are often used to treat upper respiratory problems. Peppermint and fennel oils have proven effective in alleviating digestion problems and gastrointestinal problems. And the anti-inflammatory power of clove oil helps relieve pain, particularly in the mouth and throat region. Within the scope of our manufacturing authorization pursuant to Section 13 AMG (German Medicinal Products Act), our customers can be assured that we produce our oils under GMP I + II conditions. We offer eucalyptus oil GMP, turpentine oil GMP, peppermint oil GMP, as well as various other active ingredient oils.

Oral Care

Care and freshness: Nearly every toothpaste and every mouthwash contains essential oils. Nature supplies an abundance of herbs such as mint, peppermint, spearmint, eucalyptus and aniseed. FREY&LAU develops unique qualities from the raw oils which serve as the basis for our oral care flavours with natural freshness. Using state-of-the-art application technology, we test and evaluate flavours and perform extensive sensory analyses in customer-specific base recipes. We supply producers of brand-name products and manufacturers of retail brands from the oral care industry around the world. We support our customers in the development of marketing and product concepts and by analyzing national and international market patterns and flavour trends.

Wellness

Balm for the soul: Therapeutic or relaxing bath additives, sauna infusions, massage and scented oils – essential oils from FREY&LAU are used in many wellness products. Their beneficial properties pamper the body, mind and soul. Fresh citrus and mint oils, for example, promote relaxation in the sauna or steam bath; the invigorating and stress-relieving effect of flower and wood oils is primarily utilized in the aromatherapy and wellness areas. Essential oils are also used with reed diffusers and scented candles. With our ready-to-use compounds or concentrated essential oils, we can consistently offer customers first-rate solutions for the ongoing, sustained success of the wellness market.

Flavour and Fragrance

Nature's best fragrances and flavours: They are used as components in perfume oils, give body lotion its distinct character, and provide unique taste experiences. Whether it's for the fresh kick in peppermint chewing gum or the brisk bergamot note in Earl Grey tea, many products do not become true top-sellers until they are enhanced with essential oils. Essential oils have always been used for the development of expressive flavours and fragrances. In nature-near or natural cosmetics, they replace artificial fragrance substances. We produce customized fragrance and flavour components for our customers and draw on our decades of experience in the processing of essential oils.

Feed

Good news for animals: What's good for people is often good for animals as well. Due to their traditional medicinal properties, essential oils such as oregano oil, mint oil, fennel oil, eucalyptus oil and star anise oil are increasingly being added to animal feed mixes as flavourings. They improve the feeds taste, stimulate the appetite, reduce digestion-related stress factors and generally strengthen the immune system. With our GMP+ certification for manufacturing premixes and additives, we guarantee our customers the highest degree of quality and safety.
